Statement of Purpose:
Alter work is a ministry. A ministry that ranks second most important of any service. The first most important factor is the Word of God and the invitation of sinners being called to the Alto to act on what God has said in his message to them is next in the line of protocol. Therefore, this type of ministry mandates a specific type of individual. One who is called by God, with a true love for souls and has a serious prayer life already established and have become a serious pray-er!
In this ministry the Altar worker must know how to recognize and minister to the true need of souls that come to the Altar. You become the go-between between them and God. You are lifting up that lost soul unto a Holy God. Thus it is imperative that you, the Altar worker are in tune with God. Know His move and have learned to be obedient unto His leading.
Our purpose is likened unto that of a mid-wife. We are there and labor with that soul until the introduction of the birth of the newborn is made manifest into the newness of life. This is more than a notion. As a minister in this area: ask yourself the question – “Has God called me to be in this area of ministry?” After serious thought and prayer, only if the answer is affirmatively/yes, then and only then should one proceed in this service.
